The Canadian Healthcare Association (CHA) believes that policy decisions regarding health should be made on the basis of available evidence about health and health services and that a health impact assessment of the changes to the Interim Federal Health Program would provide information that could help to clarify the validity of concerns that have been raised and provide a more robust basis for reform of refugee health services provision in Canada.

Health Promotion and Disease Prevention

CHA’s interests cross the entire continuum of health from health promotion and disease/illness prevention to continuing and palliative care. Within this continuum, CHA recommends Canada increase emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention programs and activities. Towards an Environmentally Responsible Canadian Health Sector

Towards an Environmentally Responsible Canadian Health Sector  Download
Health, health care and the environment are linked inextricably. The 13 signatory organizations envision the health sector as a leader in integrating environmentally responsible practices into the delivery of health care. We also see it as an advocate in sharing information on best practices and encouraging Canadians and Canadian organizations to limit their environmental footprint. In a green health sector, minimizing negative impact on the environment would be a priority for all organizations and individuals in their day-to-day practices and at all levels of decision-making.
